Multi-point locking systems

Multi-point locks are one of the most commonly used locking systems in the double glazing industry because time after time, they prove their ability to provide properties with excellent home security. Multi-point locking systems are incredibly resilient and sturdy, protecting your home from even the strongest forces.

Multi-point locks most commonly have 3 vertical slots. When the window is closed shut, 3 hooks bolt into the 3 vertical slots that are within the window frame. As there are multiple points at which they are secured, they provide much higher levels of protection than older windows which are only bolted at one point. Home insurance companies are well aware of the home security benefits of modern multi-point locks, so you could benefit from lower home insurance prices.

Shootbolt lock

Shootbolt window locks

Shootbolt window locks function by extending inwards or outwards at the top and bottom of the window. This anchors it to the main window frame, keeping the frame securely bolted together. Shootbolt locks incorporate adjustable mushroom cams which firmly seal the windowpane to the frame, fitting it together and ensuring that the window is incredibly robust. Shootbolt window locks are precisely manufactured, meaning that the weather elements and cold draughts are eliminated from entering your property too.

Beaded window frames

As well as being fitted with additional locking mechanisms to heighten home security, we further maximise the protection that our windows provide because of their high-quality beaded frames. Window beading is located along the outside edges of the frame, with a primary role of holding the glazing in place. In the unlikely occasion that someone tries to smash the frame, the beading will protect from harsh forces, ensuring that the glass stays intact and is much less likely to smash.

Our window frames can be internally or externally beaded, depending on your design preferences. External beading can be seen on the outside of the window profile whereas internal beading is integrated into the inner of the frame so it's hidden.

External window beading is commonly found on timber and heritage uPVC windows as it adds the decorative touch which was frequently used on traditional windows for period properties. If you're looking for a modern window installation, we'd advise on internal beading as it gives a sleeker aesthetic and makes the window frames appear slimmer.

Window restrictors

Double glazed window restrictors

Window restrictors are a frequently chosen extra for new casement windows, however, they can also be fitted on tilt and turn and bay windows. They're a security feature that limits the opening of a window, making them perfect for homeowners who have young children. You'll have peace of mind that your family are safe, but the fresh air will still be able to circulate your rooms. Window restrictors are installed on the window frame inside of your home, so they can't be seen from the outside and won't spoil the appearance of your new windows.

As well as standard window restrictors, we also offer cabin hooks, concealed restrictor arms, cable restrictors and sash jammers. They function in the exact same way as a normal window restrictor, controlling how far the window can be opened.

Sash window security features

Sliding sash windows have a unique vertical opening functionality as opposed to a standard outwards and inwards opening which is why they have an original range of security mechanisms.

  • Sash window locks/fasteners - these are fitted to the middle of the vertical sash so that when the window is locked, the window is hindered from being opened. It securely anchors the sashes to the main window frame.
  • Sash window stops - these help with both home security and ventilation. They are placed on both sides of the sash and limit how far the sash can be opened so that fresh air can be let in without the concern of the opening being too wide. Because of this, it's a vital feature for homeowners with young children to consider.
  • Meeting rails - this feature is where the top rail of the bottom window and the bottom rail of the top window meet. During their manufacturing, they're accurately fitted so slot precisely together so that the window sashes can't be picked or moved.
  • Hook fasteners - these are an optional extra for sliding sash windows and will add a decorative touch to the heritage window style. They also serve the function of enhancing the window's durability as they lock the window in place when fastened. When the window is opened, they let a small opening for ventilation.
